We are thrilled to be opening our first European office. Co-located at the Hyundai WIA headquarters near Frankfurt, Germany, this office will serve Boston Dynamics’ European customers with local sales, services, and field application engineering support.
Spot is being put to work by a growing number of customers in Europe. The German office will serve these customers, including the Otto Group, BMW Group, BASF, and the Hamburg Port Authority, to provide on the ground hardware and technical support. In addition, the Germany-based team will collaborate with customers and partners on field applications from initial pilots to scaled deployments.
Marc Theermann, Chief Strategy Officer for Boston Dynamics: "Europe is one of the fastest growing regions for our robots, and building more localized service and support infrastructure is critical to Boston Dynamics’ continued growth in this market. We expect our teams will benefit from closer collaboration and strategic alignment on future robotics efforts in the region, and we could not ask for a better home for our European operations than to be co-located with the Hyundai Motor team in the heart of Germany."
Since first launching for commercial purchase in 2021, there are now thousands of Spot inspection solutions with customers in more than 35 countries around the world. Today industrial inspections and preventive maintenance tasks are at the core of Spot’s work, but Spot is also being used to create digital twins and to help first responders safely assess potentially hazardous situations.
Our trailer unloading robot Stretch is currently busy unloading containers at companies such as DHL, Maersk, and Otto, who are quickly deploying fleets in their existing warehouse facilities. We hope that by next year, Stretch will make its debut in Europe, and we are starting to prepare for the arrival of this exciting robot.
Setting our customers up for success is our number one priority. This new office will help us continue to provide industry-leading support and service to all our customers as we continue to grow and expand our customer base, both in Europe and globally. We are excited for the opportunity to offer hands-on support, service, and training to more customers, as well as ensuring that our team can respond as quickly as possible to new support requests.
Boston Dynamics’ new office is expected to be fully operational next month, and we expect to hire additional support staff and extend its local repair and servicing capabilities in the months and years ahead. If you’re interested in applying, keep an eye on our careers page for open roles.
