ISO
ISO staat voor International Organization for Standardization.
Het is een internationale, onafhankelijke organisatie die 161 nationale standaardiseringsinstanties groepeert om op consensus gebaseerde standaarden te ontwikkelen in zeer diverse onderwerpen en toepassingsgebieden.
De standaarden van ISO zijn in principe vrijwillig, maar in de praktijk worden in veel gevallen wetgeving en standaarden zo op elkaar afgestemd dat de standaard een soort "handboek" wordt dat tot overeenstemming met de wetgeving leidt.
De hoofdzetel van de ISO organisatie is gevestigd in Geneve.
